Jadeite is the second member of the Jade family, which is a Pyroxene mineral, unlike its Actinolite mineral brother, Nephrite. A more grainy jade, Jadeite is slightly harder than Nephrite, but not as tough. It comes in a variety of colors, the most famous of which is a semi-transparent emerald-green jadeite known as “Imperial Jade”. Jadeite is also found in green (light apple to deep green), lavender, white, pink, red, yellow, black, blue and orange.
